Learning Commons Guiding Statements
Celebrating 10 years of excellence & growth, Riffa Views International School is happy to announce the opening of THE LEARNING COMMONS right in the heart of the school! Formerly the elementary library space, Mr. Pink and his team have transformed the wide open area into a welcoming gathering space for all to explore. We have expanded regular class visits to include 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, in addition to the Nursery through 5th grade visits from past years. Parents are welcome to browse and enjoy our comfortable space as well. Come see the full shelves, and check out something to read!
The Learning Commons design features pockets of "cave", "campfire", and "watering hole" type spaces for students and adults to take advantage of. Whether studying for an upcoming test in the Quiet Study (“cave”), presenting their knowledge of Flipgrid to classmates on the Big Screen PC (“campfire”), or chatting with friends over Algebra homework in the Open Spaces (“watering hole”), the needs of our community are now being met!
Our new Learning Commons is intended to be an extension of EVERY teacher's classroom, with scheduling times available for individual students, whole class visits, or equipment "rental" (such as iPad carts or podcast recording materials.) The Learning Commons staff is always around to help and engage with students and parents throughout the day. Watch our space develop as we incorporate 3D printing, coding, and virtual reality stations for students to explore and share their learning!

In January we have our New Book Order - suggestions are welcome!
The RVIS Learning Commons is a learner-centered gathering space that celebrates innovation, creativity, and literacy through exploratory learning.
The Learning Commons provides current resources to meet the needs of our community, empowering all users to create knowledge and to become ethical global citizens.
Literacy encompasses all forms of information, media and communication.
Exploratory learning fosters student agency while augmenting the classroom experience.
We value communication, collaboration, and school ownership that connects us all.
Nursery thru 8th grade classes spend at least 20 minutes in a 6-day cycle in the Learning Commons being read to, learning about finding books and resources, and of course, READING.
Parents are welcome in the Learning Commons at any time. Create an account with us and check out books for yourself, or to share with your children.
