Professional Development

This week we were delighted to welcome international literacy consultant, Emily DeLiddo to RVIS. Emily brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in the teaching and learning of literacy. She was a senior staff developer at the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University for 12 years and she has worked with numerous International Schools in the Middle East, Asia and South America. Over the course of her visit,  Emily has been working with groups of teachers from Preschool to Grade 8, facilitating a range of workshops in the various aspects of balanced literacy. She has also spent time in classrooms modeling strategies for teaching and conferring with students within the workshop model and providing teachers with the opportunity to try out some of the teaching moves they have learned. We are very grateful to have the opportunity to learn from such an experienced and talented professional.
