Dolphin Athletics
Good morning Dolphin Sports fans! Dolphin Fever was rife on the school Campus this week! Expectations were high after the previous week’s successes and this week saw all of our Dolphin Volleyball teams in action! On Monday our U13 girls team competed in their 2nd Tournament of the season. Buoyed by results from the previous week, Coach Wells and the girls traveled to Isa Town full of optimism. Although results didn’t all go their way this week, Dana confirmed that the team is making excellent progress and building nicely towards the season finale at the same venue in 3 weeks time. Our U13 boys traveled to their first Tournament of the season at IKNS. Bolstered by ‘young guns’ Jayven and Alessandro from Grade 5, Coach Bushmiller was extremely confident. These young Dolphins did not disappoint! Winning 3 out of their 4 games has put them in a strong position going into their next contest. Callie stated that the whole team deserved plaudits; no one player stood out; everyone contributed. On Wednesday, we renewed our rivalry with the always strong and pre-Championship favourites, St Chris. Our U19 boys and girls traveled to Isa Town for their fixtures full of confidence after solid performances the previous week against IKNS. However, both teams were to have a tough afternoon against their well drilled and experienced opponents. Coach Adam’s squad suffered injuries to two key players along the way; we wish them a speedy recovery. Coach Camy commented that our girls fought hard all the way, but were beaten by a very good team. It’s still early days in the competition and with games against BSB and the Bahrain school ahead, both teams remain confident of earning a high seeding in the End of Season Tournament. Our only home game this week involved our U15 girls as they hosted St Chris. Led superbly by co-captains Isabella and Shaden, our girls romped away with a 3 sets to 0 victory. The margin of victory was emphatic and just deserts for an excellent team performance. Coach Waudby was impressed with a performance filled with solid serving and entertaining 3 - touch volleyball. Again thanks to our cheering section, featuring Gym Managers, Courtney Richardson and Dhara Levers. Next week we have the following games. Come along and support your Dolphins!
