As a “community of learners”, RVIS is thrilled to celebrate Literacy Week once again this Sunday, November 18 thru Thursday, November 22. Literacy Week promotes learning through reading, emphasizing skills that will be used throughout one’s lifetime! Introduced three years ago, Literacy Week (also known as Book Week) is an all-school, week-long event in which all things reading are celebrated.

Even on the weekends, our secondary students are empowered to make the world a better place. The RVIS MUN (Model United Nations) team was invited to participate in an international conference involving schools from neighboring countries to draft, debate and build consensus around solutions to issues such as refugee aid, de jure discrimination, underage marriage, video-game addiction and more.
World’s Largest Lesson

On Sunday, October 21, our secondary students had a record-setting day. The Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs invited RVIS to join in an attempt to set a Guinness Book of World Records for the largest number of students in a single civics lesson at the same time. The lesson was part of the World’s Largest Lesson, a curriculum that focuses on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

This week we were delighted to welcome international literacy consultant, Emily DeLiddo to RVIS. Emily brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in the teaching and learning of literacy. She was a senior staff developer at the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University for 12 years and she has worked with numerous International Schools in the Middle East, Asia and South America.

This year will also mark the first annual collaborative trip with the two private schools. During the month of December, our secondary students and several teachers will travel to the U.S. to work side by side with their Princeton counterparts. Students will also have the opportunity to visit several universities to experience and explore the life and culture of higher education in the U.S. This eight-day trip will also include students touring Washington D.C, visiting the White House, enjoying National Day dinner at the Library of Congress, and touring New York City.

Our Early Childhood program employs developmentally appropriate, holistic approach to teaching. It focuses on academics and social emotional growth. Throughout the program our team works hard to cultivate the inquisitive nature of children to encourage learning in all environments. The Nursery program at RVIS, offers the internationally recognized Reggio Emilia learning approach. The Nursery program is designed using an emergent curriculum where projects and themes are inspired by the children’s own interests.
 
 
Elementary
Elementary School
Offers an experiential curriculum that focuses on the development of the whole child through a wide-range of innovative teaching practices and activities. Teachers at RVIS also have a wide-range of teaching tools to enhance the learning for each student. We believe that children are motivated to learn when they experience success and develop their understanding. They make connections and build their learning around important concepts. In the elementary school student development is nurtured by highly trained, caring, passionate teachers and support staff.
 
 
Middle School
Middle School Curriculum
The RVIS middle school curriculum is relevant, challenging, integrative, and exploratory. It is based on challenging international standards and includes learning activities that create opportunities for students. The curriculum provides direction for what young adolescents should know and be able to do. It supports them to achieve the attitudes and behaviors needed for a full, productive, and satisfying life.
 
 
High School
High School Curriculum
Riffa Views International School is a College Preparatory school based on U.S. and International Standards. Starting in 9th grade, the students are introduced to a rigorous and supportive academic program. It begins to prepare them for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program in their 11th and 12th grade years. As student wrap up their 10th grade year, they have the opportunity to select from three different graduating paths: a U.S. equivalent diploma, IBDP Certificate, or IBDP Diploma.
