STEAM in education stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. It is an educational approach that integrates these various disciplines into a cohesive learning paradigm. The STEAM approach is designed to promote a more well-rounded and holistic education by encouraging students to explore and connect concepts across multiple subject areas. The approach emphasizes hands-on learning, teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills with the goal of producing well-rounded, adaptable, and highly skilled individuals who can thrive in a rapidly changing world.

STEAM at RVIS is further enhanced by our small class sizes, innovative curriculum and unique facilities that allow students more room to move, explore and create! The Innovation Hub, located at the top of our school, is the pinnacle of what RVIS believes about education. Students from every grade level leverage the agile learning space to become engineers, artists, entrepreneurs and curious children.

Projects

These sample STEAM projects showcase the diversity and creativity of students' endeavors, highlighting the integration of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics to foster innovation, critical thinking, and a holistic approach to learning.

Electronic Instruments

Dive into acoustics, circuitry, and the math of melodies while igniting musical passion and innovation with electronic instruments. Students merge artistry with engineering to design electronic pianos and electric guitars. Experiencing the fusion of harmonies, sound science, and programming helps students understand what music is and how it is created.

Early Explorers

In their Grade 5 social studies unit, students learn about early explorers who traveled the world seeking fame and fortune. Throughout the unit, they also explore the ships that these adventurers used to discover parts unknown. As a culminating project, the students test their engineering skills by constructing small one-person boats, which they then set sail across the swimming pool.

Robot Hand

Embark on a robotic adventure in our STEAM project! Students engineer, program, and personalize their own robots, merging the realms of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Ignite your curiosity, develop problem-solving skills, and embrace the future of automation as you create, control, and infuse personality into your mechanical marvels.

KG Weather

Weather is an everyday occurrence that can easily be overlooked. Not for the KG students at RVIS. Students use the Innovation Hub to explore how clouds are formed, why rain falls, what makes a tornado spin, and so much more. This hands-on experience helps young students develop a deep understanding of scientific concepts and sparks their interest in discovering how other systems work.

SUMO Robot

Gear up for an electrifying battle of wits and metal in our Fighting Robot STEAM project! Students become robot builders and strategists, fusing technology, engineering, and creative design. Join the arena, master control systems, and watch your custom combat machines square off in thrilling duels of innovation and skill.
