RVIS Nursery and Pre-K students enjoyed an afternoon of outdoor fun in a camping event held last Thursday in the Early Childhood Playground. The camping day was designed to fit into their units on changing Seasons, Insects, Nature and Outdoors. The tents were set up by Grade 5 students that morning and PreK students enjoyed helping them. Students took part in experiential learning activities including hiking, singing, reading time, playing games and roasting marshmallows over a campfire.

Families were invited to the event and were able to enjoy the range of activities with their children. The afternoon began with lunchtime by the campfire and tents. Students participated in educational activities including a nature discovery walk, where they explored the RVIS campus and observed the greenery and streams around the school. As the camping event came to an end, students grabbed onto their S'mores kits and had so much fun roasting marshmallows over a fire pit with their parents and teachers.

We look forward to organizing the camping event for our students and parents every year. This camping event helps students experience a real camping feel, here in our EC playground and allows students to work with adults, build confidence, value experiential learning and acquire fresh perspectives.
