Poetry Cafe By Katarzyna Mroszczak Grade 3 Teacher Published: 2023-05-24 05:32:02 The school's cafetorium was transformed into a charming Poetry Cafe, setting the stage for a day filled with verses, rhythm, and artistic expression. The event started off with a delightful meet-and-greet with our young poets. Equipped with a warm cup of coffee and bite-sized snacks, staff members and family were given the chance to converse with the budding poets, appreciating their artistry presented through poems and artwork. As the afternoon unfolded, it was time for the poets to step into the spotlight. Each student performed a poem of their choice, showcasing their talent and love for the written word. Creating a melodic interlude between the poetry recitals, the students gifted us with splendid renditions of Christina Rosetti's 'Who Has Seen the Wind' and A.A. Milne's 'Wind on the Hill'.The celebration of poetry was met with enthusiastic applause and warm remarks, with one parent reflecting on the day's event by saying, "This is such a heartwarming event. It's impressive to witness the growth of students from the beginning of the school year up until now."Our Grade 3 students embraced the world of poetry wholeheartedly over the past several months, delving into an exploration of artwork, music, and diverse writing styles. As a culmination of this immersive unit, the students proudly exhibited their impressive work, demonstrating their development and finished pieces. The Poetry Cafe stood as a testament to the hard work, creativity, and dedication our students put into this project. Through igniting their passions for poetry, they've shown us how small class sizes and an emphasis on student agency can lead to an enriching and innovative learning environment.
