RVIS Back to School: Fostering Student Agency, Building Community, and Strengthening Partnerships By Deena Alreefy Marketing and Community Relations Liaison Published: 2023-09-20 05:40:45 The RVIS community came alive with excitement as we hosted two memorable Back to School events, each designed to bring parents closer to their child's educational journey. The Secondary Back to School Night, held on Wednesday, September 13, set the stage for an engaging evening filled with connection and discovery. Parents had the opportunity to meet with RVIS leadership, attend presentations, engage in meaningful conversations with their children's teachers, and gain insight into the curriculum that fuels their academic growth. Continuing the momentum, the Elementary Family Open House took place on Sunday, September 17, and showcased the immense potential of student agency and the strength of the parent-teacher partnership. Parents were welcomed into their child's learning environment, greeted by enthusiastic young learners eager to guide them through the classrooms and various learning spaces. With pride and confidence, these students shared their educational routines, showcased their achievements, and unveiled their individual growth. It was a powerful testament to the nurturing environment at RVIS, where student agency is valued and celebrated. As we reflect on these Back to School events, we are reminded of the immense power of community, parent-teacher partnership, and student agency. Together, we will continue to nurture an environment where our students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, preparing them to be the leaders of tomorrow.
