RVIS Celebrates Successful MIT-MISTI Robotics Workshop with Showcase Night By Ken Davis Director of Marketing and Admissions Published: 2024-01-18 06:00:46 Riffa Views International School (RVIS) celebrated the successful conclusion of the MIT-MISTI Robotics Workshop series with a showcase night, which was attended by parents, school representatives, sponsors, and members of the Board of Trustees. This event highlighted the unique and flourishing partnership between RVIS and MIT, marking it as a distinguished and one-of-a-kind collaboration in the GCC. The event began with opening remarks from Jo Garrahy, Head of School at RVIS. She emphasized the significance of this innovative partnership, particularly noting its impact on a diverse group of students from 10 different schools, encompassing both private and government institutions, across Bahrain. This highlighted the broad reach and influence of the program on the educational landscape of the Kingdom. John Flynn, the lead teacher from the MIT student team, followed, expressing his pride in the accomplishments of the students throughout the workshop. The highlight of the evening was the demonstration of autonomous robotic arms, a project that the students had been diligently working on. These sophisticated machines, equipped with AI, showcased their ability to sort objects by size, color, and shape, reflecting the advanced skills and understanding the students have gained in robotics and artificial intelligence. RVIS extends its heartfelt gratitude to the sponsors who made this event possible: Aion Digital, Kalaam Telecommunications, Healthy Calorie, Be Sport, and Etisalcom. Their support was instrumental in the success of the workshop and in fostering a spirit of innovation and learning among the students. Looking ahead, RVIS is excited to announce the next workshop in the series, "Autobot Challenge: Engineering Autonomous Vehicles," starting Saturday, January 20. This upcoming workshop promises to further students' exploration into the world of robotics and automation, challenging them to design and engineer autonomous vehicles. RVIS and its partners remain committed to leading educational initiatives in Bahrain, empowering students with hands-on experience and cutting-edge knowledge.
