Head of School Transition By Atif Abdulmalik Chairman of the Board Published: 2020-11-25 09:09:27 At the end of each school year we say goodbye to community members who embark on new adventures, and at the end of this school year in June, the RVIS community will say goodbye to Tara Waudby, our Head of School. Tara has successfully led the school through many new initiatives and the positive transition to the virtual and hybrid programs that started last February. Her tireless efforts and dedication have made RVIS a stronger school and community that will continue to lead the future of learning. We thank Tara for her years of service and wish her the best in the future. RVIS prides itself on the strength of its community, including its Leadership Team, and we are pleased to announce that Ms. Jo Garrahy, Deputy Head of School will succeed Ms. Waudby as the next Head of School. Ms. Garrahy has served the RVIS community for nine years in numerous capacities; in her tenure as Elementary Principal she envisioned a collaborative student leadership program, advocated for teacher leadership opportunities, and led the Arabic review. As Deputy Head of School, she has continued to lead the Arabic program; supervised the Activities and Athletics programs to provide increased opportunities for students; successfully implemented our Boarding Program; and led our COVID Health & Safety measures and systems throughout the pandemic. In addition, she has successfully expanded our parent partnership program with her work on the PTP, and she is currently serving as the Internal Coordinator for our CIS/MSA Reaccreditation process. Most notably, Ms. Garrahy served as the lead in achieving our “Outstanding” BQA rating in 2018. Ms. Garrahy has worked alongside Mrs. Waudby in leading the school through many positive transitions. They will continue to work together closely to provide a seamless transition process, leadership continuity, and ensure RVIS will continue to ‘ignite passions, personalize the journey and impact through action.’
