Book Tasting By Deena Alreefy Marketing and Communications Specialist Published: 2024-10-09 18:23:39 Grade three had the delightful opportunity to participate in a book tasting at the RVIS pop-up Book Cafe. The menu featured a variety of book genres, including fiction, non-fiction, fantasy, graphic novels, fairy tales, and picture books. Students were organized into groups and rotated through different tables to “taste” the diverse genres on offer. At each table, they selected a book and wrote a brief review of their experience. We all recognize that reading is not only a fantastic workout for our brains but also plays a crucial role in enhancing children's literacy, concentration, sleep, general knowledge, and, of course, providing endless entertainment. The book tasting effectively introduced our students to genres they might not have previously explored, encouraging them to step out of their comfort zones in their book choices. After all, books are the plane, the train, and the road. Books are both the destination and the journey. Pick one up, and READ!
