Teacher Spotlight: Amy OMeara By Ken Davis - Published: 2020-01-13 05:07:09 Amy O’Meara is flourishing as a teacher. She has shown resilience and the capacity for dynamic growth within the virtual school setting. After spending several years in the elementary classrooms, Ms. O’Meara switched to secondary education. This year she started teaching middle and high school English Language Arts. Virtual school of this magnitude is new for many teachers and Ms. O’Meara has risen to the challenge. Finding immediate success, her work started positively by integrating quick check-ins, project based work, online assessments, and connections with each student. RVIS wants to foster a growth mindset so that everyone is continually learning. We expect it from our students and we integrate it as part of our own practice. Ms. O’Meara has done both. She draws from her experience as an online coach, works from her passion for teaching, and continually seeks improvements in her instruction. Her variety of digital education strategies and dedication has been - and I’m sure will continue to be - phenomenal. The success can be seen in her excitement for class and the engagement that students have with her virtual lessons. Ms. O’Meara inspires other teachers - and students - to be their very best.
