Cross-Country Success for RVIS By Muneera Al Khalifa Grade 12 Student Published: 2021-11-03 07:44:32 Schools from across the island were able to come together and compete in athletics for the first time in two years. The RVIS Cross-Country Team competed Bahrain School on Monday. RVIS under 19, 16, and 13 teams each finished their races with the most medals in the competition. The team consisted of a large number of students that raced at every age level. They arrived early before the event and warmed up before their race. Students who participated in the U16 race ran 3-kilometers and students in U19 ran 5-kilometers. The under 19 boys raced first, followed by the U13 and U16 races. The U19 girls race concluded the event in the evening, with RVIS students placing in first and third. Once each race was finished, a medal ceremony was held in which RVIS students placed in the top 3 of every race. When asked about her thoughts on the event, Cross-country coach and P.E teacher, Ms. White said: “We are so excited to be able to participate in BSSL competitions again. All students performed exceptionally well on the running track and we had lots of personal best times. We were the most successful of the six schools that competed on the night, coming home with 6 medals! We are so proud of all of our athletes for the way that they competed and the sportsmanship that they displayed at the competition. We are really looking forward to seeing them compete again next week at Nurana Island.”
