The Importance of Reading - RVIS Annual Book Fair! By Muneera Al Khalifa Grade 12 Student Published: 2021-11-24 06:02:42 Studies have shown that reading on a daily basis can improve a child's critical thinking as well as enhance their imagination. From the 16th to the 18th of November, RVIS welcomed the return of its annual Book Fair. Set up in the breezeway, students were able to conveniently browse and purchase books throughout the day. The Book Fair was held in association with three local bookstores — Book Land, The Book Case, and Al Tanweer. The selection of books available ranged from children's stories and activity books to young adult fiction, catering to all ages. Both English and Arabic books were sold at the fair. “What we hope to accomplish with this book fair is, honestly, igniting reading passions. When the kids see books that they like to read, it makes them want to read more” said Ms. Manar, the Learning Commons Coordinator. As students gathered around and discussed the books on sale, the RVIS annual book fair, once again, displayed how the written word can bring people together.
