Elementary Back to School Night By Ken Davis Admissions/Marketing Director Published: 2022-09-28 06:45:51 The Elementary Back to School Night helps to form a strong partnership between parents and teachers, in an effort to help children reach their full potential. Last week, the Head of School, Ms. Jo Garrahy, opened the evening by celebrating the strength of the RVIS community, and how proud the school is of the students that walk the halls each day. Ms. Jessica Davis, the Elementary Principal, followed by emphasizing the importance of the learning partnership in order to help our children reach their full potential. The evening then shifted to the classrooms, where teachers outlined the curriculum, resources and tools that RVIS students engage with everyday. As a grade 4 parent stated, “I enjoy coming to these events and getting a glimpse of what a day is like for my child. I hear from their teacher, sit at their desk, learn about daily routines, and gain a better understanding of the school's curriculum.” The evening ended with a final gathering to speak with the teachers of specialist subjects which included: Physical Education, Arabic, Islamic Studies, Music, Art, Learning Commons Coordinator and Elementary Counselor. These partnerships will have a lasting impact on the students at RVIS, and establish a strong foundation for the remainder of the year. Thank you to all the parents for joining us!
