Book Tasting By Deena AlReefy Marketing & Community Relations Liaison Published: 2022-10-05 07:15:51 Grade three got the chance to indulge in a book tasting at the RVIS pop-up book bistro. On the menu were a selection of different book genres including fiction, non-fiction, fantasy, graphic novels, fairy tales, and picture books. Students were divided into groups and took turns rotating through different tables to “taste” all the different genres available. At each table, students got to grab a book to taste and then write a short review on their experience. We all know that reading is a great exercise for our brains but also it feeds on improving our children's literacy, concentration, sleep, general knowledge, and of course a great source of entertainment. The book tasting successfully introduced our students to genres they may have not been familiar with and encouraged them to step out of their comfort zone with their book selections. After all, books are the plane, the train, and the road. Books are the destination and the journey. Pick one up, and READ!
